Piper's 1st Christmas and New Year - 2008

The Christmas season was a little odd this year. Nice, but odd. In early December my dear Grandmother passed away. After plane delay upon delay, our family finally made it down to Utah to attend what turned out to be an absolutely beautiful and memorable funeral. After a nice, but sad weekend in Utah we came back, now with my brother and my sister with her husband. We did all the good ol' family stuff, like photos with Santa, Peppermint Hot Chocolate, family photos, the works. We were stuck in the snow and couldn't get to our house for about 10 days, so we ended up staying at my parent's house until we were safe to get out and get home. We were, however, able to get to Peter's parent's home for Christmas Eve. Several of the other families were stuck, so Peter and a couple of his brothers joined in on the Nativity that's normally done by the grandkids. Peter was a shepherd.

After the Nativity, we headed back to my family to do our Christmas Eve traditions, as well as to celebrate my dad's birthday. Luckily we had all of our gifts with us just in case we did get snowed in/out. So we spent Christmas morning with my family.

Yes she did get wipes and diapers for Csssssssprt fnort blut (sorry... but my dad interfered and I promised I'd keep that there.) Anyway. Yes, she did get wipes and diapers for Christmas, but Peter says it's because she's too young to be getting socks.

Due to the white Christmas, we weren't able to get to Peter's parents home for Christmas, so we had it a few days later. It was sad, but was a nice extended Christmas.

Overall, Christmas was very nice and fun, and we were eventually able to get home to only have it snow more. Luckily it has warmed up and it's safe to travel. Hopefully the weather won't be like last year and have it snowing up until April. Bleck.

We also spent New Years Eve with my family. We attempted to spend part of it with Peter's family, but when we had to leave everyone else started showing up. We were kinda bummed, but ohhh well. We ended up playing board games, and then watched all the New Years performances and stuff from New York, then watched the Space Needle's fireworks go off. Everyone else went outside to do pop-its and streamer thingies (the only legal fireworks here...) but I stayed inside with the tired baby.

Over the Holiday week we were able to meet up with lots of our friends that were in town for the Holidays. It was really nice to see all of them, and sad to see them go. It was especially sad to see my sister and her husband, and my brother go. I'm super close with my brother, and I hadn't seen my sister in over a year. We had a great time with them here and hope to see them all again soon. But we all had to get back to the real world. And such is life.
